The conference has something for anyone interested in Space and UK Space endeavours. From children to professors of Space Science there is something for everyone.
There is a day aimed at Kids and teachers (April 1st) followed by three days of presentations from Academia and Industry, discussions, a careers event, social events and an exhibition (April 2-4th).
The Grand Finale of the conference is the Sir Arthur Clarke Gala awards ceremony. The UK Space equivalent of the Oscars a ‘black tie’ – the “Arthurs” is attended by the elite of the UK Space community who will come together to raise money for Sir Arthurs favourite Sri Lankan charity, Sarvodya.
There will be a wide range of activities for teachers, children and those interested or involved in Education.

Inspiration for STEM
The conference will commence with ‘Inspiration for STEM’ day. Aimed at children from Key stage 2 upwards the event will bring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to life. Talking to the children will be an astronaut, some of the top Scientists, Engineers and Mathematicians in the country. There will be a chance to get involved in practical workshops as well as presentations, exhibitions and displays.
Careers
For older students still at school there will be a careers component to the Inspiration day April 1st with careers advice. Students will have a chance to meet those working in the Aerospace Industry or Research. Representatives of companies and universities will be available to advise on the opportunities available. |
 Teachers in Service Training - Space Educate (April 1st) |
On April 1st there will be a course for Education professionals. Space is a powerful stimulus that can be harnessed to encourage students learning. This course will concentrate on practical help for teachers. Teachers will receive free resource materials with practical guidance on resources and services they can access. There will be workshops, practical demonstrations plus advice about how best to use Space in the curriculum.

Is a model Rocket competition the final of which will be held at Charterhouse on April 2nd. Those schools that have qualified for the final will fly their model rockets, which are designed to achieve a precise flight profile. The team that comes gets closest win a trip to the United States to take part in a American competition. |
 Astronomy Parallel |
2009 is the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) and there will be an Astronomy parallel at the conference, which will be an official IYA event. Top Astronomers will be talking about the most recent developments in Astronomy. There will also be practical demonstrations and look out for announcements about a STAR PARTY. |

Some of the largest and most sophisticated satellites have been built in the UK. Further the UK has a reputation for leading the world in the development of small satellites. From building spacecraft to Earth Observation, Navigation and a host of services the UK is at the forefront of the technology. Come and meet the experts. |

The UK has a proud history of involvement in Space and astronomy. The parallel will cover some of the highlights in the history of UK Space Science, rocketry and astronomy. This is a chance to meet some of the scientific and engineering heroes and hear about their achievements. |

The United Kingdom Rocket Association brings amateur and model rocketry. A fascinating hobby UKRA has also become involved in a number educational initiatives such as UKAYRoC. |
 Once We Had A Rocket |
A premiere viewing of the Once We Had A Rocket (2008) - a documentary account of Britain’s post war programme to build a rocket that would launch satellites into space. An off-shoot of Britain’s nuclear weapons programme, the project was eventually terminated in 1971. The film includes archive film of the rocket when it was in development on the Isle of White, test firings in Australia and interviews with some of the British engineers and technicians who worked on the project. Produced and directed by Joe Myerscough and Mathew Stracy, this documentary has distinction of being the winner of the Audience Poll at the Eighth Imperial War Museum Student Film Competition. |
 Undergraduate Careers – UKSEDS and the Royal Aeronautical Society (April 4th)

On April 4th there will be a careers event aimed at Undergraduates. As well as exhibitions there will be presentations from representatives from Industry and Academia. There will be advice not only on job opportunities but also on postgraduate research opportunities. Recent graduates will also be present to reflect on their experience. |

 The Sir Arthur Clarke Awards (April 4th evening) |
The Arthurs are the UK Space equivalent of the Oscars. Dress is black tie and the evening includes the presentation of the awards in various categories. There is a meal and live music and a chance to socialise with some of the stars of the UK Space community.
Individual seats are only available to those attending the conference or by invitation. Tables can be purchased by organisations (the price includes a donation to Sir Arthurs favourite charity).
